ELON, N.C. – The Elon University cross country programs will split for a pair of meets this weekend with a group heading to the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, Oct. 13 and the rest of the squad traveling to the XC-23 NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 14.

LAST TIME OUT
• Elon last raced at the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 30. Both squads had top-two finishes at the meet as the Phoenix women won its second team title of the year as Elon scored 25 points in the 5K race and had six runners finish in the top 11. On the men's side, the maroon and gold men was second with 46 points while seeing four members of its squad garner top 12 standings in the 8K run.

Caden Strickland led the Phoenix men as the sophomore was fifth overall with his time of 25:58.0. He was joined in the top-10 by another sophomore in
Nate Mars, who was ninth with his time of 26:15.0.
• The Elon women took its second team title of the year as freshman
Kate Buerger was the runner-up overall in the 5K race with her time of 18:39.0.
Hannah Miller was fourth for the maroon and gold with her time of 18:45.6.
ELON WOMEN RECEIVING VOTES IN USTFCCCA NATIONAL POLL
• For the first time in school history, the Elon women's cross country team received votes in the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Poll on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
• The Phoenix received two votes in the national rankings released on Tuesday, its first known votes in the USTFCCCA national poll during its Division I era. Regionally, Elon sits seventh in the Southeast Region.
