RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University golfer Garrett Risner has been named the CAA Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 18.

Risner placed third in this week's eighth annual Phoenix Invitational at Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. The junior from Holly Springs, N.C., fired a season-low, bogey-free round of 65 (-6) in the second round of the tournament. Risner followed with a strong 2-under par 69 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 204 (-9). He finished tied for a team best in par-5 scoring average (4.33) and birdies (14).

Risner becomes the second Elon men's golf player to take home the weekly honor this season. This is Risner's second top-5 finish so far this fall season.
 
The Phoenix will close out its fall season at the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by UNCG in Greensboro, N.C. on Oct. 29-31.
