Elon Football Adds 13 On National Signing Day

Elon, N.C. - Elon Football Head Coach Tony Trisciani announced the signing of 13 players on National Signing Day Wednesday. All 13 are high school recruits and will enter Elon in 2024 as freshmen.

Among the class of 13 is seven players from the state of North Carolina and two from Virginia. Elon added one student-athlete each from the states of West Virginia, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia. Three defensive linemen and three defensive backs highlight the class, along with two wide receivers, two offensive linemen, a quarterback, running back and tight end. All 13 players were team captains. Bios of all 13 signees are listed below.


KAHMARI BROWN | DL | 6-2 | 220 | Jacksonville, N.C. | White Oak
High School: Played four years of varsity football at White Oak High School … Head coach is Jonathan Byrd … Named Coastal Conference Player of the Year, leading team to a 9-2 record as a senior … Team won conference championships in 2022 and 2023 … All-conference from 2021-23 … Had 111 tackles, 64 solo, as a senior to go with 6.0 sacks, 15 hurries, 25 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, a blocked punt and a blocked field goal … Also ran for 628 yards as a senior and 709 for his career … Went 7-3 in 2022 with a 5-1 league mark … Posted 93 tackles as a junior and had 52 more as a sophomore … Finished his career with 18.5 sacks and 40 hurries … Also lettered in basketball and track & field … Team captain.

Personal: Son of Orpheus and Montia Brown … One brother, Julian, and a sister, DeAsia … Plans to study business.



LANDEN CLARK | QB | 6-0 | 186 | Radford, Va. | Radford
High School: Played four years of varsity football at Radford High School … Head coach was Michael Crist … Led team to a 15-0 record the program's first state championship in 51 years in 2023 … Had more than 4,300 yards and 71 total touchdowns as a senior … Team went 10-2 as a junior as Clark piled up more than 3,300 yards and 52 touchdowns … Played three games during an 8-4 sophomore campaign with 800 yards and 12 touchdowns … Two-time region Player of the Year … Two-time first team all-district and all-region … First team all-state as both a quarterback and defensive back and second team all-state as a punter … VHSL Offensive Player of the Year … City Player of the Year and WSLS Player of the Year … Also a state champion in track & field and state runner-up in basketball … Two-time team captain.

Personal: Son of Darrenn and Heather Clark … One brother, Hayden … Plans to study business.



JAKE CLEMMONS | OL | 6-6 | 300 | Laurinburg, N.C. | Scotland
High School: Played two years of varsity football at Scotland High School after transferring from Marlboro Academy … Head coach at Scotland is Richard Bailey … Team went 10-3 as a senior … Team won back-to-back conference titles … All-conference football player … Earned the Hubb Meggs Award in baseball and the Bill O'Brian Award in basketball … Team captain.

Personal: Son of Jon and Heather Clemmons … Father played baseball at Montreat College … Two sisters, Sydney and Reese … Beta Club … Plans to study business.



ISAIAH FUHRMANN | WR | 6-4 | 192 | Norfolk, Va. | Nansemond-Suffolk Academy
High School: Played four years of varsity football at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy … Head coach is Mike Biehl … Had more than 100 career catches and almost 2,000 career receiving yards … As a senior, finished with 45 receptions for 525 yards and 13 touchdowns … Had 59 catches for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns as a junior … Two-time first team all-state at wide receiver and defensive back … Conference Player of the Year and first team all-conference … First team all-conference and second team all-state basketball player … Team captain in both football and basketball.

Personal: Son of Pervis Stevenson and Alicia Fuhrmann … Two brothers, Desean Stevenson and Elijah Houston, and a sister, Naomi Stevenson … Uncle Jeff Fuhrmann is a member of the Old Dominion University Sports Hall of Fame after leading the Monarchs to the Division II Basketball National Championship.



JORDAN GLOVER | DB | 6-1 | 182 | Durham, N.C. | Southern Durham
High School: Played four years of varsity football at Southern Durham High School … Head coach was Darius Robinson … Team went 7-5, including a 5-1 league mark, in 2023 … Had 216 career tackles and five interceptions at Southern Durham … Recorded 44 tackles, an interception and 11 passes defended as a senior … Had 81 tackles, three interceptions, a forced fumble and four fumble recoveries as a junior … As a senior, posted 90 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery … Team captain.

Personal: Son of Scottie and Aishia Glover … Plans to study business.



TYQUAN HARNEY | WR | 5-10 | 182 | Elizabeth City, N.C. | Northeastern
High School: Played two years of varsity football at Northeastern High School … Head coach was Antonio Moore … Team went 14-1 as a senior as he had 39 receptions for 968 yards and 14 touchdowns … Had 1,251 all-purpose yards as a senior … Northeastern advanced to the Eastern regional finals … Two-year team captain in both basketball and football.

Personal: Son of Chris Stokley and Patrice Ellis … Six brothers – Shakel Stokley, Cequan Stokley, Jakeeyl Harney, Uzziah Harney, Quran Stokley, and Chandler Ellis – and a sister, Tiarrah Stokley … Member of National Honor Society, A honor roll and a Junior Marshal … Plans to study sport management.



JACK O'CONNELL | TE | 6-5 | 220 | Wake Forest, N.C. | Heritage
High School: Played three years of varsity football at Heritage High School … Head coach was Wallace Clark … Had 27 receptions for 343 yards as a senior, averaging 12.7 yards per catch … Northern Atlantic Conference VI All-Conference as a senior … Three-time academic all-conference … Team captain.

Personal: Son of Dan and Lizabeth O'Connell … One brother, Caden … Senior Class Student Government Association President, National Chinese Honor Society, Math Honor Society, National Honor Society … Plans to study engineering with career ambition to become a mechanical engineer.



RASHAD REID | DL | 6-0 | 285 | Martinsburg, W. Va. | Martinsburg
High School: Played four years of football at Martinsburg High School … Head coach was Dave Walker … Team went 13-0 in 2023 and won the state championship … Posted 92.5 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks … Two-time EPAC Defensive Player of the Year … Coalfield Progress Defensive Player of the Year … Two-time first team all-state … Prepredzone Defensive Player of the Year … Team captain.

Personal: Son of Jerel and Kayla Reid … One brother, Kameron, and a sister, Jada … Member of honor roll … Plans to study business management with a career ambition to work in real estate.



BRYCEN SCOTT | DB | 5-11 | 185 | Florence, S.C. | Wilson
High School: Played four years of varsity football … Head Coach was Rodney Mooney … Team Most Valuable Player … Had 48 tackles as a senior … Finished his career with 79 tackles, five pass break-ups, two interceptions, a forced fumble and two touchdowns … First team all-region … WPDE All Zone team … Two-year team captain.

Personal: Son of Brian and Samantha Scott … One brother, Javontay Robinson, and a sister, Kaelyn Scott … Member of National Honors Society … Plans to study business.



JAMES SHAFFER | OL | 6-5 | 280 | Naples, Fla. | Community School of Naples
High School: Played three years of varsity football at Community School of Naples … Coached by Eugene Chung and Mike Stannard … Team went 16-5 over final two years, including 8-2 as a senior … Also lettered in track & field … Team captain.

Personal: Son of Jason and Marilyne Shaffer … One brother, Peter … Plans to study accounting with a focus on a career in business.



ROSS SMITH | DB | 5-11 | 190 | Marshville, N.C. | Forest Hills
High School: Played four years of varsity football at Forest Hills High School … Head Coach was Jammie Deese … Team improved its win total in each of his high school seasons, going 21-4 over the final two years, including 12-2 as a senior … All-state and three-time all-conference player … Four-time all-conference track & field student-athlete … Selected to play in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas … Team captain.

Personal: Son of Ross Smith Sr. and Niketa Houston … One brother, Everett Wall, and a sister, Aaliyssa … All honors classes and National Technical Honors Society … Plans to study engineering.



TJ THOMAS JR. | RB | 5-8 | 181 | Thomasville, Ga. | Brookwood
High School: Played four years of varsity football at Brookwood School … Head Coach was Shane Boggs … Three-time all-state and four-time all-region performer … 2022-23 GIAA Player of the Year, ITG Next 2022-23 Defensive Player of the Year, ITG Next 2023-24 Offensive Player of the Year … 2023 Bill Rainey Male Athlete of the Year … Most Valuable Running Back at the Polynesian Bowl camp … Finished his career with 2,209 rushing yards, 3,457 receiving yards, 6,488 all-purpose yards and 76 total touchdowns … As a senior, finished with 1,025 receiving yards, 946 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns (16 rushing and 14 receiving) … As a junior, had 1,035 rushing yards, 958 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns (16 rushing and 11 receiving) … Recorded 985 receiving yards, 228 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore … In freshman season, had 489 receiving yards and eight touchdowns … Also lettered in basketball and track & field … Three-year team captain.

MALAKAHI WEST | DL | 6-3 | 225 | Wilmington, N.C. | Hoggard
High School: Played three years at Hoggard High School after a year at Ashley High School … Head coach at Hoggard was Craig Underwood … Played two years of varsity football … Team went 14-2 as a senior, including 7-0 in conference, advancing to the state championship game … Recorded 70 tackles, 23.5 for loss, 14.5 sacks, three interceptions, nine forced fumbles and one touchdown as a senior … Had 79 tackles, 37.5 for loss, 18.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles as a junior … As a sophomore, posted 12 tackles, 6.5 for loss, five sacks and an interception as team went 11-1 and 7-0 in conference … MEC First Team Defense as both a junior and senior … MEC Defensive Player of the Year and Star News Player of the Year during junior season … Also lettered in basketball and track & field ... Team captain.
