Elon Baseball Releases 2024 Schedule

Elon, N.C.- Elon University baseball and head coach Mike Kennedy announced their upcoming 2024 season schedule, Monday Dec. 4. The Phoenix will face a grueling schedule, hosting the likes of Wake Forest, East Carolina and Campbell at Latham Park this Spring.

The Phoenix is slated to play 53 games during the regular season with 35 of those contests being held in the friendly confines of Walter C. Latham Park. The Phoenix will stay right at home in the Old North State with their first game outside of North Carolina taking place on March 26. Elon will not leave the Carolinas until their second CAA series when they take on Stony Brook, April 5.

"Really excited about this spring's schedule. The CAA was the 7th best league in the country in 2023 (RPI) and may be even better in 2024, said head coach Mike Kennedy. Our non-conference slate includes the likes of Wake Forest, Minnesota, UNC and East Carolina to name a few. Going to be a very challenging schedule and one that will bring a lot of quality baseball to Latham Park."

Elon will begin the 2024 campaign by hosting the Naval Academy for a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday, Feb. 16. The two played a two-game series last season in Annapolis, Md., which was split between the two. The Phoenix will travel to Chapel Hill for their first midweek game and face their first Power Five/ACC opponent in the North Carolina Tar Heels on Feb. 20.

Elon welcomes NJIT for another weekend series before facing UNCG in Greensboro in the midweek on Feb.27. Beginning March 1, Elon will participate in an MTE hosted by Wake Forest with two games at Latham Park.

The Phoenix will host Valparaiso and Binghamton, beginning March 1, to open the tournament before travelling to David F. Couch Ballpark to face Wake Forest to close the tournament. Elon was one of the three teams in college baseball to either split or take a season series with the Demon Deacons last season with one, Coastal Carolina, hosting a regional and LSU, who would go onto win the College World Series.

Following a midweek with Longwood, Elon will host A-10 opponent UMASS for a weekend series before travelling to High Point to take on the Panthers. Elon will then welcome the Big Ten's Minnesota Golden Gophers for a weekend series at Latham Park, March 15-17.

After Elon hosts Minnesota for three games, Elon welcomes East Carolina for another midweek contest at Latham Park.

Elon will open conference play on the road for a weekend series, beginning on March 22, with reigning CAA regular season champions, UNCW. Elon and UNCW split a two-game series last weekend, in which the two teams would finish the regular season with the number one and two seeds in the CAA Tournament.

Following a midweek contest with USC-Upstate, Elon will host new CAA member Campbell for the Phoenix' first CAA weekend series at Latham Park. Elon and Campbell split two midweek games with the home team taking each contest last season.

Wofford will make the trip to Latham Park before the Phoenix leave the Carolinas for the first time, travelling to Stony Brook for a weekend series with the Sea Wolves, April 5-7. Elon added the transfer of Shane Paradine who played four seasons at Stony Brook and started every game for the Sea Wolves last season.

Elon will travel to Greenville to complete the home-and-home series with the Pirates on April 9, before returning to Latham Park for a CAA series against Hofstra. The series with Hofstra will be the start of Elon's longest home stretch of the season with the Phoenix playing eight straight games at Latham Park. UNCG will come to Latham followed by a weekend series with Monmouth, whom Elon swept in West Long Branch last season.

On April 23, Elon will host Wake Forest. The Phoenix defeated the Demon Deacons at Latham Park last season, 5-3, in what was Elon's first ever win over a number two ranked opponent and their highest ranked win since 2002.

The Phoenix will face two 2023 CAA Tournament teams in Northeastern and William & Mary following the contest with Wake Forest. Northeastern earned an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament while William & Mary finished their season at the CAA Tournament. Elon outfielder Tank Yaghoubi transferred from the Tribe to Elon following an All-Rookie campaign with the Tribe last season.

Elon's final midweek will take place on May 7, when the Phoenix host High Point at Latham Park. The final two CAA series for the Phoenix will be against North Carolina A&T and the College of Charleston. Elon's newest assistant coach Jamie Serber joins the Phoenix following a stint as pitching coach for the Aggies while Elon last season took three out of four games from the Cougars including eliminating Charleston in the CAA Tournament last May.

The 2024 CAA Championships will take place in Wilmington, N.C. from May 22-25 with NCAA Regionals beginning on May 31.
