PALM CITY, FL – The Elon University men's golf team completed the opening round of the Advance Golf Partners Classic on Sunday. UNC Greensboro is hosting the tournament at the par-72, 7,169-yard Hammock Creek Golf Club.

The Phoenix is tied for 12^th in the 19-team field after posting a 15-over par 303 in the first round. Butler paced the field on Sunday, taking a five-shot lead with an even-par 288. Connecticut and Drexel are tied for second with a 5-over 293. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• Matthew Doyle posted Elon's low round of the day with a 3-over par 75 and sits in a tie for 35^th place. He birdied two of his final seven holes on his way to shooting even on the back nine. The sophomore was one of 12 players in the 119-player field to score under par on par-3 holes.  
• Landon Durham, Garrett Risner and Juan Callejo Ropero all carded 4-over par rounds of 76 to finish Sunday in a tie for 44^th place. Ropero made four birdies while Durham and Risner made three on the day. Ropero and Risner both finished the day 2-under par on the par-5 holes.
• As a team, Elon finished the day tied for second in par-3 scoring average (3.15) and tied for fourth in total birdies (14).
