Webster Breaks School Record In 100, Elon Closes Day Two At Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. – Reese Webster had to wait an extra week, but the true freshman from San Juan, Trinidad & Tobago broke the school record in the 100 Friday at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State. In total, Elon saw six student-athletes break into top 10 lists during the day.

Webster ran a wind-aided time of 11.83 seconds in the 100 a week ago, a time that would have broken Elon's school record of 11.85 if not for the wind reading. There was no asterisk Friday as she ran a wind-legal 11.82 to etch her name at the top of Elon's leaderboard.

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Reese Webster's 11.82 in the 100 gave her a 19th place finish and teammate Meghan Wilcox followed closely behind in 11.96 seconds.
  • Freshman Hannah Schonhoff cleared 5-feet-5.75 (1.67m) in the high jump to place fourth in program history in the event.
  • Kalli'Ana Botelho ran the 100 hurdles in a season-best time of 14.35 seconds. That time is tied for sixth in school history.
  • In the 5000, Elon saw three student-athletes run strong times. Maggie Springer was the top finisher with a time of 16:44.71, but Jette Beermann was just behind in 16:46.60 to move to seventh in program history. Freshman Katie Blount broke onto the leaderboard at No. 10 with a time of 16:59.67.
