RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore
Kaitlyn Wells of the Elon University softball team was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday, March 27.

Wells helped the Phoenix win its third straight CAA series this weekend over Towson. The Roswell, Ga., native batted a team-best .625 (5-of-8) against the Tigers, hitting safely in all three games. Wells belted two home runs in the series while also adding a double and five RBI to her stat line. After the Phoenix fell in the first game of the series, Wells went 1-of-3 with a two-run homer in Elon's 6-5 win to help the maroon and gold pull even. In the rubber match, Wells went 3-for-3 at the plate, falling a triple shy of the cycle. She also drove in three RBI and scored a run in Elon's 12-4 win to clinch the series.

Wells becomes the second player from the team to be recognized as the league's Player of the Week.
Claudia Penny also earned weekly laurels on Feb. 21.

Elon is back on the road this weekend, April 1-2, trekking to Hampton for its first-ever CAA series against the Pirates.
