School Records Fall As Elon Competes Friday

Wake Forest, N.C. and Greensboro, N.C. – Two school records fell on Friday as the Elon Track & Field team competed at the Wake Forest Invitational and the Aggie Classic, hosted by North Carolina A&T.

Kaitlin McGoogan broke her own school record in the hammer throw at Wake Forest, while Reese Webster became the new record holder in the 200 at North Carolina A&T.

RECORDS BROKEN
  • Kaitlin McGoogan became the first woman in program history to break the 200-foot mark in the hammer throw, posting a distance of 200-feet-3 (61.05m). That distance is more than six feet further than her personal best distance of 194-0, which had stood as the school record. She is the first CAA female student-athlete to go over 200 feet since 2021.
  • Reese Webster ran the 200 in 23.88 seconds, breaking the school record time of 23.94 seconds, set by teammate Piper Jons in late March. Webster's previous personal best was 24.19 seconds.

OTHER TOP TEN PERFORMANCES
  • Reese Webster was pushed in the 200 by teammate Kalli'Ana Botelho, who ran a personal best time of 24.16 seconds, third-best in school history. With that performance, the top four 200 runners in program history are all current student-athletes. Webster and Botelho join Piper Jons (23.94) and Meghan Wilcox (24.17) atop the leaderboard.
  • Botelho had a huge day as she also won the long jump at the Aggie Classic. Her leap of 19-2.5 (5.85m) ranks second in program history and ties her personal best, a mark achieved before she transferred to Elon from Quinnipiac.
  • Linn Hertz Saebboe added a PR in the long jump as well, recording the third-best leap in program history. She jumped 19-0 (5.79m) and finished second at the Aggie Classic.
  • Over at Wake Forest, Jette Beermann finished as runner-up in the 1500 with a personal best time of 4:23.75, the fifth-fastest in program history.

NOTABLE BESTS
  • Chelsea Wallace set a season-best throw of 151-9 (46.26m) in the discus and Tristin Oberg had a personal best in the same event at 140-2 (42.73m).
  • Julia Bell won the 1500 at the Aggie Classic with a PR time of 4:43.02. Braetan Peters also posted a personal best at 5:00.74.
  • In the long jump, Hollie Thurgood had a PR leap of 16-11.5 (5.17m).
