Elon Track & Field Closes Weekend At Aggie Classic

Greensboro, N.C. – The Elon University track and field team set numerous personal bests and posted times that reshuffled the program's all-time leaderboards Saturday at the Aggie Classic, hosted by North Carolina A&T.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Kalli'Ana Botelho recorded personal bests twice in the 100 Saturday, beginning with a time of 12.05 seconds in the prelims. That tied her PR and moved her to fifth in program history. In the finals, she added to that, recording a time of 12.00 seconds to finish third and move into a tie for fourth in Elon's record book.
  • In the same event, Piper Jons ran the 100 for the first time in her career, finishing with a time of 12.21 seconds. That places her seventh in school history.   
  • Linn Hertz Saebboe cracked the 40-feet mark in the triple jump for the first time in her career, earning a distance of exactly 40-0 (12.19m). That mark is tied for fourth in school history.
 
OTHER NOTABLE EFFORTS
  • Grace Dieleman won the javelin with a distance of 132-11 (40.53m).
  • Ja'mia Johnson ran a wind-aided 14.65 in the 100 hurdles prelims, qualifying for finals in fourth. She then posted a wind-legal personal best time of 14.70 seconds in the finals.
  • Sydney Swan recorded a new PR in the 800 with a time of 2:22.75, as did Julia Bell in 2:23.24.
  • Meghan Coyne earned a personal best in the hammer throw at 158-4 (48.26m).
 
UP NEXT
  • Elon will compete in the Charlotte Invitational Friday and Saturday to close the regular season.
  • The Phoenix will then compete in the CAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 5-6, hosted by William & Mary.
