Mount Olive, N.C. and Provo, Utah – The Elon University outdoor track & field team competed in select events at three meets throughout the weekend, aiming for personal bests and regional qualifiers.
Maria Ahm took part in the 10,000 at the BYU Cougar Invitational Saturday, while select student-athletes competed in two meets at Mount Olive Saturday and Sunday.
TOP RESULTS
- Leandra Lorenz, the two-time CAA champion in the 1,500, posted a personal best time of 4:18.14 at Sunday's Mount Olive Final Qualifier. She won the event and recorded the second-best time in program history.
- On Saturday, Lauryn Carlton recorded a new personal best in the shot put with a winning throw of 46-feet-7.25 (14.20m). That distance is third in program history.
- Chelsea Wallace recorded a season-best mark of 158-2 (48.22m) in discus on Sunday to win the event. She moves to fourth in school history with that performance.
UP NEXT
- Elon will await invitation to the NCAA Division I East Region Preliminary Round. The meet will take place May 24-27 in Jacksonville, Fla. The top 48 declared student-athletes in each event will be accepted into competition, as well as the top 24 declared relay teams.
