Richmond, Va. – Elon University's
Mark Elliston has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Coach of the Year and
Reese Webster was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Year Wednesday, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Elliston received the CAA Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year honor for the third consecutive year, as well as the fifth time in his 17-year career. He also earned the CAA's inaugural Indoor Coach of the Year honor in March. Webster shared CAA Rookie of the Year honors with William & Mary's Catherine Garrison after Webster broke school records in sprints and relays.
Under Elliston's leadership, Elon won the CAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship for the third straight year, winning the meet by the largest margin of victory since 2003. Elon became the first program to win three straight CAA outdoor titles since William & Mary from 2008-10 and also clinched the CAA's first triple crown – winning conference titles in women's cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field. Since 2019, Elliston's squads have won eight conference championships (four in women's cross country, three in outdoor track & field and the inaugural indoor track & field championship in 2023).
Webster broke Elon's school records in the 100 and 200, as well as running the anchor leg on the team's record-breaking 400 relay squad. She won CAA titles in the 100 and 400 relay, while finishing fourth in the 200. Her school-record time of 11.70 seconds in the 100 came in the CAA championship-clinching race. In the 200, she established a new school-record time of 23.88 seconds at the Aggie Classic. The 400 relay team broke the program record four times during the season, culminating with a time of 44.91 seconds at the CAA Championships.
