Elon Track & Field Earns Team, Individual Academic Honors

New Orleans, La. – The Elon University Track & Field Team earned All-Academic recognition Thursday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named three Phoenix student-athletes as All-Academic Athletes. Leandra Lorenz, Kaitlin McGoogan and Hannah Miller were all recognized.

In order to earn team All-Academic status, the cumulative grade point average of all student-athletes in the program must be a 3.0 or higher. The three-time defending Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champions, Elon posted a 3.641 grade point average, among the top 25 in the country. That 3.641 GPA represents the highest mark in the CAA.

Lorenz, McGoogan and Miller were named All-Academic Athletes by maintaining a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and qualifying for the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round. Lorenz competed in the 1,500, McGoogan in hammer throw and Miller in the steeplechase.

The Elon University track & field program has won three consecutive CAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, while also winning the inaugural indoor title this winter. Elon is the first program to win three straight CAA outdoor titles since 2008-10. Head Coach Mark Elliston was named both the CAA Indoor and CAA Outdoor Coach of the Year.
