CARY, N.C. – The Elon University men's and women's cross country programs competed at the NC State hosted adidas XC Challenge on Friday evening, Sept. 15 at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course.
The Phoenix women took the team title at the meet, scoring 32 points and defeating fellow CAA foe William & Mary, who was second with 70 points in the women's 5K race. In the men's 6K run, the maroon and gold men was seventh overall with 198 points as the Wolfpack won the title with 15 points.
Women's Recap
• The Phoenix had four runners finish in the top of the race.
Maggie Springer led Elon at the meet with a time of 17:31.7 and was eighth overall.
Jette Beermann was next behind Springer in ninth and a time of 17:32.1.

Madison Synowiec was 10
th in her season debut for the Phoenix with a time of 17:32.2 while
Katie Blount was 11
th overall and a time of 17:32.4.

Jasmine Young was the fifth Phoenix runner to cross the line in 22
nd with a time of 18:11.9.
Men's Recap

Logan Harding paced the Phoenix men in the 6K with a time of 18:59.9 in 29
th overall. Another rookie,
Joe Lavelle, was the second Elon runner to cross the line with his time of 19:11.3 in 39
th overall.

Caden Strickland was 42
nd with a time of 19:19.3 while
Daniel King was next for Elon with his time of 19:33.3 in 54
th. Freshman
Bryan Hampson rounded out the top five for the Phoenix with his time of 19:56.9 in 67
th.

The Phoenix travels to the Virginia Invitational next Saturday, Sept. 23, in Charlottesville.
