CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Highlighted by several personal bests and a program top-10 performances, the Elon University men's and women's cross country team closed out competition at the Virginia Invitational on Saturday morning, Sept. 23, at the Panorama Farms course.
Women's Recap
• The Phoenix as a team scored 329 points in its 5K race and was 13
th overall in the 23-team field. Elon finished ahead of other notable schools Northwestern, Ohio State, Charlotte and James Madison. Northern Arizona took the team title with 48 points.
•
Katie Blount paced the Phoenix with a personal-best time of 17:06.9 and was 48
th overall out of 199 competitors. The sophomore's time also places her in the program's top-10 performance list.
• Freshman
Hattie Reynolds was next for Elon in her first collegiate race representing the maroon and gold. Reynolds was 52
nd overall with a time of 17:11.6, which is also now in the program's top-10 performance list.

Jette Beermann was the third Phoenix runner to cross the line in 56
th overall. The junior posted a time of 17:14.6.

Madison Synowiec and
Abby Beville rounded out the top five runners for the Phoenix. Synowiec was 73
rd with a time of 17:24.4 while Beville was 155
th with her time of 18:14.1.
Men's Recap
•
Evan Taylor was the lone Phoenix runner who competed in the men's 8K race. The sophomore had a time of 25:15.5 which places him in the program's top-10 performance list.
• Taylor represented the Phoenix solo after
Zane Jackson was a late scratch from the race.

• Elon continues its regular season at the Winthrop adidas Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 30.
