ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's and women's cross country teams are set to race at the ECU Pirate Cross Country Invitational on Friday, Oct. 4 at Overton's Lake Kristi. The day gets underway with the men's 8K race at 9 a.m. followed by the women's 6K run at 9:45 a.m.

Elon Women Competing: Julia Bell, Shayla Cann, Madi Galindo, Addison George, Cami Glebocki, Karla Hiss, Ella Kane, Winter Oaster, Braetan Peters, Maddie Priest, Lakyn Schaltenbrand and Tina Varis.
 
ABOUT THE FIELD
• The 2024 Pirate Invitation will feature an enticing field of 23 teams: American, Campbell, Charleston Southern, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, East Carolina, Elon, George Mason, George Washington, Hampton, Milligan, Mt. Olive, NC State, Norfolk State, Radford, Richmond, UCF, UNCG, UNCW, VCU, William and Mary and Winthrop.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Phoenix last competed at the adidas XC Challenge at the WakeMed Soccer Cross Country Course in Cary, N.C. on Sept. 20. The Elon women finished fourth overall in its 5K race, scoring 100 points while the Phoenix men were seventh overall in the 6K run, tallying 220 points.
• Caden Strickland was the leader for the Phoenix men for the second straight race, posting a time of 19:02.6 and was 48th overall. Freshman Jack Kane followed Strickland across the finish line for the maroon and gold with his time of 19:08.9 and was 50th overall.
• Mikayla Jones and Madison Synowiec were 18th and 19th overall, respectively, to lead the Phoenix women. Jones posted a time of 17:29.3 in the 5K while Synowiec was right behind her with a time of 17:29.5.
 
UP NEXT
• Elon will split for a pair of meets to close out the regular season with its second home meet, the Phoenix Invitational, on Friday, Oct. 18 while select members of the women's team race at the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Madison, Wisc.
