Elon, N.C. – The Elon women's tennis team will return to the courts this weekend by hosting the Elon Invitational Friday and Saturday at Jimmy Powell Tennis Complex. The Phoenix welcomes Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Liberty and Queens for the two-day event.
 
The Elon women's tennis team would like to express their sincere gratitude that Appalachian State is able to join the program this weekend following the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Helene. Many college and universities in Western North Carolina are dealing with campus damage, closed roads and lack of power and basic utilities. The women's tennis program suggests making a donation at this time:
 

• The State of North Carolina has established a Disaster Relief Fund to help with immediate needs. Click here to learn more.
• Many nonprofits are also accepting donations, including the American Red Cross, the United Way of North Carolina and the Salvation Army.

 
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

• Friday's and Saturday's matches start at 10 a.m. with the weekend featuring three rounds of doubles and three rounds of singles. 
• There will be no live stats or live video stream for the tournament.

RECAPPING THE START OF THE FALL SEASON
Elon has played in one other tournament so far this fall, hosting the Jimmy Powell Invitational Sept. 13-14.

• Simone Bergeron and Heidi Bulger both went 3-0 in singles action during the weekend, while Ella Suk went 2-0. Lisa Kranec and Miray Konar had a 2-1 singles record.
• In doubles action, the team of Bulger and Konar won their only match playing together, while Suk and Kranec went 1-1. Bergeron and Mariana Reding also went 1-1 in doubles action.
