RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men's basketball graduate student
Zac Ervin and freshman
Nick Dorn were honored by the CAA as the league announced its 2023-24 Men's Basketball Postseason Awards on Thursday, March 7.

Ervin earned the prestigious Dean Ehlers Leadership Award for his work in the classroom, on the court and in the community. The award is presented annually to the men's basketball student-athlete who "embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity and sportsmanship in conjunction with his academic athletic achievement."

Ervin becomes the second member of the program to receive the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award after Tyler Seibring did so in 2017-18. This is also the second straight major CAA award earned by Ervin, who was named the league's Scholar-Athlete of the Year last season. A team captain, Ervin has participated in many services opportunities including Christmas Cheer, Allied Churches Food Ministry and helping to conduct a basketball clinic for more than 50 Italian youth basketball players on the team's study abroad experience. He is also an Elon SAAC member and has participated in the Phoenix Leadership Academy.

On the court, the Gate City, Va., native is third on the team in made three-pointers with 50 while averaging 6.8 points per game. He became the ninth player in school history to knock down 200 or more career three-pointers and currently has 207 makes in his collegiate career.

Dorn received All-Rookie honors, becoming the seventh player in school history to be named to the All-Rookie team in the CAA. The Charlotte, N.C., native ended the regular season averaging 9.5 points per game while leading the Phoenix in three-pointers with 59. The 6-foot-7 guard has scored in double figures 13 times this season including a season-high 25 versus Bridgewater. He has also been named the CAA Rookie of the Week four times on the year, tying the league-high in that category.

Elon opens play at the 2024 Jersey Mike's CAA Men's Basketball Championship on Friday, March 8 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. The 11
th-seeded Phoenix faces No. 14 seed Hampton at 4:30 p.m. and the contest streaming on FloHoops.
