Richmond, Va. – Elon University junior Jette Beermann has been named Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Track Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks.
 
Beermann won the 5000 at the historic Penn Relays, breaking Elon's program record in the event by more than 24 seconds with a time of 15:42.30. She outsprinted runners from Northwestern and Penn State on the final lap to earn the victory.
 
The time of 15:42.30 is the second-fastest in CAA history and currently ranks No. 12 in the East region. She is No. 25 in the NCAA this year.
 
As a team, Elon competes in meets at Liberty and North Carolina A&T this week before hosting the CAA Championship May 10-11. Elon is the three-time defending CAA outdoor track and field champions.
