Elon, N.C. – Two members of the Elon University track & field program will compete Aug. 28-31 at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru. Sophomore
Stavriana Adamou will compete in the 100 hurdles and incoming freshman Duna Viñals will take part in the 400 hurdles.
Adamou, who hails from Larnaca, Cyprus, placed ninth at the CAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100 hurdles this spring with a wind-legal personal best time of 14.40 seconds. She was also seventh in the 60 hurdles at the CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. First round heats and semifinals take place Aug. 29 in Lima with the finals taking place the next day.
Viñals, a native of Andorra, will compete in the 400 hurdles beginning with first round heats on Aug. 28. Semifinals take place Aug. 30 and the final is Aug. 31. According to her World Athletics profile, Viñals has a personal best time of 59.84 seconds in the 400 hurdles.
