ELON, N.C. – The Elon University men's and women's cross country teams return to the course to race at the adidas XC Challenge on Friday, Sept. 20. The NC State-hosted meet will take place at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course in Cary, N.C.
The Phoenix men will race in the 6K at 5:15 p.m., followed by the women's 5K at 5:55 p.m. Elon will feature 13 men's runners and 19 women's runners at the meet.

LAST TIME OUT
• The 2024 season began for the Phoenix at its annual home meet, the Elon Opener, on Friday, Sept. 6. The maroon and gold women took first at the meet, scoring 16 points in the 4K race while the Phoenix men finished third overall with 84 points in the 6K run.

Madison Synowiec led the Elon women as the Salisbury, Md., native won gold at the meet with a time of 14:02.8. Synowiec paced four Phoenix runners who finished in the top-four of the race and seven of the top eight.

Quinn Smith was the runner-up as the sophomore had a time of 14:02.9 while
Abby Beville helped Elon sweep the podium with her time of 14:02.9 in third.
• In the men's race,
Caden Strickland ran a time of 18:39.8 to lead the Phoenix men, finishing in the top 10 of the race in sixth overall. Freshman
Jack Kane was the second Elon runner to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 19:04.8 in 14th overall.
• For her performance, Synowiec was named the CAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Sept. 10
