ELON – The Elon lacrosse team and head coach Josh Hexter announced the Phoenix's 2026 signing class Thursday.  
 

Elon will welcome five new members next fall – Jayla Callender, Ella Michaelis, Sophia Mele, Scarlett Gilner and McKenna Jewell.  
 

Callender is an attack from Port Jefferson Station, New York. She plays high school lacrosse at Comsewogue High School and club lacrosse with Team 91. A three-sport athlete, Callender also played soccer and basketball in high school.  
 

A midfielder from Darien, Connecticut, Michaelis is attending Greenwich Country Day School as a junior and senior. She previously played lacrosse at Darien High School for two years and play club for Sound Lacrosse in Connecticut. Michaelis also played high school field hockey.  
 

Mele, a defender from East Northport, New York, comes to Elon from Northport Senior High School. She also played club lacrosse for the Torre/Mitchell Yellow Jackets. She was ranked by the Long Island Lacrosse Journal as the No. 6 ranked defender from Long Island in the 2026 class.  
 

Gilner is the younger sister of Elon sophomore Addie Gilner. A midfielder, Scarlett hails from Chapel Hill, and plays lacrosse at Chapel Hill High School. A 2024 USA Lacrosse All-American and All-State Selection, Scarlett helped Chapel Hill to a 23-2 record a season ago. She is a three-sport athlete at Chapel Hill, playing basketball and field hockey in addition to lacrosse. 
 

Jewell is a defender from Leesburg, Virginia. She attends Riverside High School and plays club lacrosse for 3d in Frederick, Maryland. She was tabbed as a First-Team All-State, All-Region and All-District honoree in 2024 and was an honorable mention on the Washington Post's 2024 All-Met Team. She helped guide Leesburg to the Class 5 state championship in the spring.
