RICHMOND, Va. – Three Phoenix received All-CAA recognition Wednesday as the conference unveiled its postseason women's lacrosse awards.
Defender Eliza Ritter and attacker Ana Lee Vandiver were selected to the All-CAA Second Team, while attacker
Lizzie Scalzo earned an All-Rookie Team nod. It is the first All-CAA selection for all three Phoenix.
Ritter leads the Phoenix with 24 caused turnovers this season and ranks No. 6 in the CAA with 1.50 caused turnovers per game entering the postseason. The junior has forced 13 turnovers in conference play with multiple caused turnovers in four of Elon's seven conference games, including a season-best four against William & Mary that helped her earn Co-CAA Defensive Player of the Week. Ritter also has the second most ground balls (20) among Elon field players.
Vandiver paced the Phoenix with 39 points during the regular season with 26 goals and 13 assists, tied with Scalzo for the most helpers on the team. The redshirt junior has six hat tricks this season, two of which came in CAA wins against Campbell and Monmouth. Vandiver became the seventh Elon player to reach 100 career points earlier this season and has a pair of six-point outings in wins over High Point and VCU. The attacker also netted a hat trick in Elon's game against No. 16 Duke.
Scalzo is one of three Elon players with 30-plus points this season (32) and is tied with Vandiver for a team-best 13 assists. The freshman is also third among Phoenix goal scorers with 19 tallies, including the game-winning goal in double overtime in a CAA victory at Campbell. Scalzo has netted a trio of hat tricks in her rookie campaign, including a five-goal effort at Queens in Elon's season opener. She became the first Elon true freshman to score five goals in her college debut since Stephanie Asher in 2018.
Elon will face No. 11 Stony Brook in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament on Thursday. Opening draw at LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, New York, is set for noon.
