Bergeron Set For ITA Conference Masters

Simone Bergeron Will Represent CAA In Singles

ELON – Elon junior Simone Bergeron will represent the CAA in singles this week at the ITA Conference Masters. The tournament will be played in San Diego, California.

Tournament Information
  • This will be the second edition of the ITA Conference Masters, which features one singles and doubles representative from each Division I conference.
  • Bergeron is the first Elon player to represent the CAA in the event. She was chosen through a vote of the conference's head coaches.
  • The tournament serves as a qualifier for the NCAA Individual Championships. The four singles semifinalists and top three doubles teams will qualify for NCAAs.
  • Play will begin on Thursday and conclude on Sunday.
  • Bergeron will face Byrant's Yahli Noy in her first-round match on Thursday. The contest is slated to begin at 12 p.m. EST.

  • Bergeron is the reigning CAA Player of the Year following a breakout sophomore campaign.
  • Last spring, Bergeron primarily played No. 1 singles and doubles for the Phoenix, racking up 32 total victories.
  • Bergeron clinched Elon's first ever CAA championship in the spring, winning a three-set thriller at No. 1 singles against William & Mary's Hedda Gurholt.
  • She earned All-CAA First Team recognition in both singles and doubles. Her 20 doubles wins were the most on the Phoenix, with 18 coming alongside Mariana Reding.
  • Bergeron has six singles victories this fall and was the co-winner of Elon's first event, the Jimmy Powell Invitational. She has also won the doubles competition at both the Jimmy Powell Invitational and Phoenix Fall Invitational alongside Reding, as the duo has won seven matches this fall.
