Elon To Host Charlotte Friday

Elon, N.C. - The Elon University women's tennis team returns to the courts for their seventh match of the spring season. The Phoenix hosts UNC Charlotte Friday at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m. Elon enters the match with a 5-1 record this year, while Charlotte is 6-2. 

FOLLOW ALONG THE MATCHUP
  • The Phoenix's most recent match with the 49ers was in Feb. of 2023 at Charlotte, where Elon lost 4-0. The last home match versus Charlotte was in 2021, where the Phoenix lost 6-1. 
  • Overall, since 2000, the teams have played seventeen times. Elon claimed victory in seven of the seventeen matches. 
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
  • Elon is currently 5-1 on the season, with their two most recent matches being 7-0 victories over Belmont Abbey. 
  • The Phoenix is undefeated at home, and the team's only loss this season being 7-0 at Wake Forest. 
  • Elon holds a singles record of 28-8 and a doubles record of 12-5.

ABOUT CHARLOTTE
  • Charlotte is in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and competes alongside teams such as Tulane, Wichita State and Temple.
  • The 49ers are ranked fifth in the AAC with a record of 6-2. They ended the 2023-24 season with a record of 19-7.
  • Charlotte's most recent match, one of only two losses, was a 4-3 home loss against Clemson. Their only other loss was 4-0 against No. 1 Georgia.
