Elon Finishes Second At CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Virginia Beach, Va. – Hampton placed second in the 1600 relay, passing Elon in the final event of the day to clinch the 2025 CAA Indoor Track & Field Championship. Hampton won the meet with 110 points, followed by Elon with 107.5. Defending champion Northeastern ended third with 94.5 points.

In the three-year history of the CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, there have been three different winners. Elon won the inaugural title in 2023 and has finished second in each of the past two years.

Senior Jazlyn Jefferson starred for the Phoenix, winning the CAA Championship in the triple jump and breaking her own school record by leaping 40-feet-6.25 (12.35m). Elon hand a handful of medalists, including second place finishes from Sarah Petitjean in the mile and Mikayla Jones in the 3,000. Bronze medalists included Arianna Alexander in the 60, Shayla Cann in the 800 and Katie Blount in the 3,000.

Elon finished day one Wednesday with a two-point lead over Northeastern and a 6.5 point advantage of William & Mary. Hampton was a distant fourth, 16.5 points back.

MEDALISTS
  • Jazlyn Jefferson sparked Elon late with the CAA championship in the triple jump. Already the school's record holder in the event, she flew 40-feet-6.25 (12.35m) to win the title and break her own mark.
  • Sarah Petitjean ran a PR in the mile with a time of 4:50.23 to earn CAA runner-up status. Her time ranks fourth in program history.
  • Mikayla Jones was one of three Elon runners to finish in the top five in the 3,000. She was CAA runner-up with a PR time of 9:26.76, ranking second in school history.
  • Katie Blount followed right behind Jones in the 3,000 with a time of 9:29.78. Her bronze medal time is good for third in school history.
