Box Score Conway, S.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team saw its win streak snapped at three matches as Coastal Carolina earned a 5-2 victory Tuesday morning at Stevens Tennis Complex. The Chanticleers picked up the doubles point and then won four singles matches for the victory.
 
Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding got Elon off to a fast start with a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. But Coastal Carolina was able to win the other two doubles matches to get the critical point.
 
In singles play, Helen Sarikulaya rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles and Heidi Bulger won in straight sets at No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-3. But the Chanticleers were too strong throughout the remainder of the lineup and got the win. Lisa Kranec saw her 10-match win streak snapped at No. 6 singles despite a battle. She lost the opening set in a tiebreak before winning the second set 6-2. The pair played a 10-point tiebreak in the third set where Kranec came up just short of extending her streak, 10-5.
 
With the win, Coastal Carolina improves to 9-4 on the season and Elon falls to 11-5. The Phoenix are off for 11 days before hosting East Carolina on March 29 at 1:00 p.m. That match signals the beginning a six-match home streak to end the regular season before hosting the CAA Tournament April 25-27.
