High Point, N.C. – The Elon University track and field team took part in the Bob Davidson Team Challenge, hosted by High Point University, Friday and Saturday. The Phoenix continued to make strides through the early portion of the outdoor season.
 
TOP PERFORMANCES

• Sophomore pole vaulter Caden Cerminara continues her march towards the school record. A week ago, she set a new personal best by clearing 12-feet-7.5 (3.85m). Saturday, she inched (literally) closer to the school record of 3.90m as she went over 12-8.25 (3.87m). She ranks third in school history in the event.
• Junior Lizzie Lopez set a new outdoor PR in the high jump as she leaped over 5-5.25 (1.66m). That mark ties for fifth in program history. Lopez also set personal outdoor bests in long jump by leaping 18-3.25 (5.57m) and in the 200 with a time of 25.75 seconds.
• Junior Tristin Oberg led the Phoenix in the shot put as she recorded a distance of 42-6.75 (12.97m). That mark moves her into 10^th in program history in the event.
• Freshman Olivia Waymer ran the 100 hurdles in a wind-aided time of 14.40 seconds. Although it will not go down in the record books due to the high wind, that time would have tied her for 10^th in school history early in her career.

 
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

• Freshman Julia Edler had a pair of collegiate best marks, doing so in shot put and javelin. She threw the shot put 37-feet-5.75 (11.42m) and the javelin 103-8 (31.61m).
• Senior Jazlyn Jefferson had a wind-aided PR in the 200 at 24.75 seconds and Nevaeh Kimmie set a PR in 26.86 seconds.
• Freshman Grace Wager led the Elon effort in discus with a PR distance of 141-3 (43.07m). Another freshman, Isabella Johnson, was just behind with a PR 140-11 (42.95m).
• Freshman Mary Sollars posted a PR in the 400 with a time of 1:00.24.
• Freshman Winter Oaster had a personal best time of 4:39.11 in the 1,500.
• Junior Ja'mia Johnson ran the 400 hurdles in 1:09.68 to set a new PR.
• Sophomore Haleigh Cephus set a PR in the hammer throw at 134-3 (40.93m).
• Freshman Savannah Hameed recorded a PR in javelin with a throw of 101-2 (30.85m).

 
UP NEXT

• Elon will take part in the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State, Thursday through Saturday before returning to High Point for the VertKlasse Meeting April 4-5.
