Elon, N.C. – As announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday, June 10, Elon University women's tennis head coach Elizabeth Anderson has been named the ITA Coach of the Year for the Carolina Region for the 2024–25 collegiate tennis season. This prestigious honor places her in contention for the ITA National Awards, which will be announced in the coming days.
Anderson earned this recognition after an outstanding season that made history for Elon. She led her team to its first-ever CAA Championship title, securing a spot in the NCAA Tournament to face No. 10 University of Tennessee. Prior to this historic win, the team had reached the CAA title match only once.
Earlier this year, Anderson also received the highest coaching honor in the conference, being named CAA Coach of the Year. This marked her second time earning the distinction, having previously received the award in 2016 when the program advanced to the CAA Championship.
The 2024–25 season marked the end of Anderson's 21st year with the Phoenix, during which she has averaged over 14 wins per season and amassed 308 career victories.
After guiding Elon through building years in her first two seasons, Anderson transformed the program into a model of consistent excellence. She has since led the Phoenix to 18 consecutive winning seasons, with the 2025 campaign marking the 19th in a row.
