ELON – The Elon University women's track and field team closed out a split weekend of competition with appearances at the Doc Hale Invitational and the Camel City Distance on Saturday.
Doc Hale Invitational – Blacksburg, Va.
Mia Stimpson opened the meet with a strong showing in the triple jump, posting a new personal best of 11.85 meters to place sixth overall.
Jenna Gilman also recorded a personal-best performance in the 800 meters, finishing sixth with a time of 2:11.88.
Gabi Walker followed closely behind, setting her own personal record at 2:13.70 to move into the program's top-10 all-time list.
Grace Lavelle rounded out the Phoenix competitors in the event, placing 17th at 2:18.17.
In the 200 meters,
Amelie Meier finished 14th with a time of 25.05, followed by
Teri Pridgen in 25.56.
Camel City Distance – Winston-Salem
Julia Bell recorded a pair of strong performances, setting a new personal best in the one-mile run with a time of 4:57.45 to place seventh overall. She also finished ninth in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line in 4:39.56.
Emilia Smith captured the gold medal in the 3,000 meters, winning the event with a time of 10:03.62.
Cami Glebocki placed third at 10:09.13, while
Ashland Dickel rounded out the top five with her time of 10:13.10.
In the shot put,
Isabella Johnson led the Phoenix with a throw of 13.74 meters to finish seventh overall.
Adriana Clarke followed in 15th with a mark of 12.35 meters.
ON DECK
Elon closes out the indoor regular season on Feb. 13-14, splitting competition between the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at Liberty University and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
