Phoenix Looks To Bounce Back After Series Sweep

ELON – The Elon baseball team continues its nine-game road trip Tuesday against East Carolina in Greenville. First pitch at Clark-LeClair Stadium is set for 5 p.m. ET.

HOW TO FOLLOW
PROBABLE STARTING PITCHERS
  • Tuesday: TBD vs. TBD

QUICK HITS
  • Elon trails East Carolina 32-61-1 in their long-standing all-time series. The Phoenix has lost seven straight games to Pirates, with its last overall win coming in 2021 at home. In that most recent win over ECU, the Pirates' starting shortstop was current Elon assistant coach, Ryder Giles.
  • Elon took down No. 10 NC State in Raleigh last Tuesday in its most recent midweek contest. The Phoenix shut out the Wolfpack for the first time in their 60-game all-time series.
  • Sophomore left-handed pitcher Owen Winebarger was named the CAA Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Winebarger allowed just five base runners against the Wolfpack and struck out four in his winning effort. He later made an appearance in Elon's weekend series at UNCW, allowing just two hits and one earned run to the Seahawks over three innings on Sunday.
  • The bullpen trio of Sam Nomura, Latkowski and Mike Staiano has been among the best in the nation. The three have combined for more than 38 innings of relief through 19 games while allowing just six runs.
  • Senior Jackson Alford has continued his All-CAA form from 2025, leading the Phoenix in most offensive categories through 19 games. He most recently recorded a multi-hit game with three stolen bases Tuesday at No. 10 NC State. Alford leads the CAA in stolen bases per game (1.00) and is fifth nationally in stolen bases (18).
  • Outfielder Brian DuRoff helped power the Phoenix offense last week. He drove in both Elon runs with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly in the win over NC State. The former Saint Mary's Gael leads the Phoenix in RBI (15) and has reached base in 18 of Elon's 19 games.
  • Following a 25-32 (13-14 CAA) season in 2025, Elon was picked in a tie for fourth in the 2026 CAA preseason poll.
  • Head coach Mike Kennedy is in his 30th season at the helm of Elon Baseball. After earning 25 wins last season, Kennedy has led the Phoenix to 24 seasons of 25 wins or more. Kennedy is a 2025-26 Elon Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
