Phoenix Opens Conference Play Against Campbell

Defending CAA Champions Welcome Campbell To Rudd

ELON – The Elon women's soccer team (5-1-2) begins conference play Sunday night with a match against CAA South foe Campbell (3-4-2) at Rudd Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Sunday's match will be available to stream free on the FloSports Channel on Prime Video as part of a new distribution agreement between FloSports and Prime Video. The Campbell Series

Elon holds an 8-4-1 advantage in the series against Campbell. The Phoenix edged the Camels 2-1 last season in Buies Creek thanks to a late goal by Grace Gelhaus.
The Phoenix is 3-1-0 against Campbell at home since becoming a Division I program. However, the Camels defeated the Phoenix in 2024 the last time the teams met at Rudd Field.
This will be the fourth meeting between Elon and Campbell as CAA opponents. Prior to their first conference matchup in 2023, the teams had not played since 2012.

Storylines To Follow

Red-Hot Offense: Elon scored 24 goals in nonconference play, the most nonconference goals for the Phoenix since 2019. Through eight matches this season, Elon ranks top 20 nationally in goals, assists and points. The Phoenix has scored multiple goals in six of its eight contests, including six goals in a road win against South Carolina State on Aug. 20 and five at VMI on Sept. 3.
Balanced Attack: Elon's 24 goals this season have come from 14 different goal scorers. Additionally, of the 22 field players to log minutes for Elon this season, 18 have notched at least one point.
First-Time Goal Scorers: Six different Elon players have scored their first career goal this season – Maya Abousaab (2), Nicole Kleyner (2), Hannah Carlson, Isabel DiPrima, Jessica Hill and Emerson Rogers. Gabby Tirado's two goals this season were also her first with the Phoenix after transferring to Elon from Marist.
Hats Off For Isa: Isa Murdock leads all CAA scorers with 16 points this season and is tied for the conference lead in both goals (6) and assists (4). Murdock became the first Phoenix to score a hat trick since 2023 earlier this season with three goals against VMI. She was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 7.
Helping Hand: Talia Feigin became the first Elon player to notch three assists in a match since 2023 with a trio of second-half helpers last week at VMI. Feigin is tied with Murdock and Grace Gelhaus for a team-best four assists.
GG: Gelhaus, the reigning CAA Defensive Player of the Year, has six points this season with one goal and four assists. All four of the helpers have come in hrt last four appearances, including a two-assist outing at Davidson.
Person Of Interest: Naomi Person has started seven of Elon's eight matches in goal this season, the first starts of her college career. She has contributed to three shutouts alongside Anica Carpenter. Person and Carpenter have split the net in each of the last two matches.
Shutout Streak: The Phoenix is riding a three-match shutout streak into CAA play, having not conceded a goal since Aug. 30 against High Point. Elon has not allowed a goal in over 205 minutes of game action. Megan Dwyer, Alexis Pierce and Jessica Hill have all logged over 550 minutes on Elon's back line this season.
Rookies Of The Week: Elon swept the first two CAA Rookie of the Week awards this season, with Kleyner winning it on Aug. 17 before Carlson made it back-to-back for the Phoenix by earning the honor on Aug. 24.
Let's Go, Dan: Elon's captain Jordan Green is having a career-best scoring season, with six points in eight matches. The senior is coming off a three-point outing against Charleston Southern that featured her second goal of the campaign.
Home Sweet Home: Elon swept its nonconfernece home slate, winning all three fixtures at Rudd Field. The Phoenix outscored its opponents 9-1 in those contests.
All-CAA Honorees: The Phoenix was picked to finish first in the CAA South Division preseason poll. Additionally, Gelhaus, Murdock, Ava Hellner and Katie Bisgrove were all named to the preseason all-conference team.

Last Time Out

Elon closed out nonconference play with a 3-0 shutout victory on Sept. 13 over Charleston Southern at Rudd.
Green scored her second goal of the campaign in the first half to give the Phoenix a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Maya Abousaab made it 2-0 for the Phoenix with her second career before Murdock deposited her sixth of the campaign directly off a free kick.
Elon outshot Charleston Southern 18-8 and held a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal.
The Phoenix utilized 21 field players in the victory, with Pierce playing the full 90 minutes.
Carpenter and Person split their third clean sheet of the season with Person playing the first 63:36 before Carpenter took over to close out the match.

Defending Champions

Elon won its second CAA title last fall and its first since the spring 2021 season.
The Phoenix finished third in the South Division and clinched a CAA Tournament berth with a tie against College of Charleston on the last day of the regular season. Elon rode a six-match unbeaten streak into the postseason.
Elon started its tournament with a 1-0 road win over William & Mary behind an Ashlee Brehio goal. In the semifinals, the Phoenix eliminated UNCW, the South's top seed, on the road via a penalty shootout following a scoreless draw to advance to the championship match.
In the CAA final, Elon upended Stony Brook on the road in penalty kicks after a 1-1 decision on Long Island. Bisgrove made 10 saves in the contest to finish Elon's championship run with 28 stops.
The Phoenix led the CAA last season in goal differential, goals against average, save percentage and shutout percentage. Elon allowed just 16 goals in 21 matches, conceding just 11 times in conference play.
Elon also had a top-three scoring offense in the conference, netting 1.78 goals per match in CAA play.

Scouting Campbell

Campbell went 3-4-2 during nonconference play and will also open its CAA slate Sunday night.
The Camels are coming off a 2-1 loss at the hands of UNCG on Sept. 10. Prior to that match, Campbell secured a 1-1 tie against NC State.
Abby Connolly and Avery Garrett are pacing the Camels with six points apiece. Garrett has a team-high three goals while Connolly has two goals and assists each.
Laney Heafner and Olivia Vandre have also netted multiple goals for the Camels this season. Gillian Garrison and Ava Kanaar both have two assists.
Anais van Doesburg has started all nine matches in goal for Campbell. She has stopped 38 shots with a .745 save percentage.
Jeff Gross is in his fifth season as Campbell's head coach.
