2008: For the second-straight year, led the squad in tackles, posting 80 total stops… Had 3.5 tackles for a loss… Broke up three passes and notched two quarterback hurries… Started all 11 games in which he appeared… Posted double-digit tackle totals in three games… Tallied 10 stops, including a sack, and two quarterback hurries in a SoCon victory at then-No. 14 Georgia Southern… Made 11 stops against then-No. 4 Wofford… Recorded a season-best 14 tackles at then-No. 2 Appalachian State… 2007: Led the team with 83 total tackles as a true freshman… Saw time in all 11 games, earning four starts… Tallied three tackles for a loss, including 1.5 sacks… Recovered two fumbles and recorded one quarterback hurry… Made 19 tackles in a league game at The Citadel… Amassed 18 stops in a victory over Stony Brook and 17 tackles at SoCon rival Furman… Finished the year with four consecutive 10+ tackle outings… Grabbed his first career interception in a victory over West Virginia Wesleyan… Named SoCon Freshman of the Week following his performance against Stony Brook. 

Prep: Named team defensive MVP… Two-time all-county selection… Also dubbed all-area and all-conference… Amassed 246 tackles over his junior and senior campaigns. 

Personal: Son of Johnnie and Terri Powell… Born March 11, 1989… Interned at the Best Western Hotel in Burlington this summer… Majoring in leisure and sport management.
