2020: Had a 3.92 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched as the Sunday starter...Was second on the team in strikeouts with 25...Finished 10th in the CAA in innings pitched, tied for third in strikeouts, and tied for fifth in strikeouts looking (seven)...Set a season high with seven strikeouts twice, against Delaware State (Feb. 16) and UMass-Lowell (Feb. 23)...Struck out five or more batters in all four starts...Pitched 11 innings with 14 strikeouts, one walk, and two earned runs in his first two starts.

2019: Posted a 2-3 record with 3.70 ERA in 28 appearances and one start...Struck out 49 opposing batters across 41.1 innings...Earned the win at then-No. 20 Wake Forest after allowing one run on two walks with a strikeout in 0.2 innings of relief...Recorded four strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief at then-No. 1 NC State...Tallied six strikeouts in 3.0 complete innings of relief against then-No. 12 ECU...Had four strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work versus UNCW...In just his second career start and first of the season, he helped the Phoenix reach its first CAA Championship title game with a career outing against the Seahawks. McCarthy pitched 6.2 innings and recorded eight strikeouts, both career highs, while holding UNCW to one unearned run on four hits and two walks.

2018: Made 13 appearances, including one start … Went 1-1 with a 6.59 ERA … Struck out 13 hitters in 13.2 innings on the year … Earned the first win of his career after allowing one run on one hit and striking out one in 1.1 innings against Liberty … Struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings against Wake Forest … Fanned two in a scoreless inning against Towson.

2017: Made five relief appearances … Was 0-0 with a 7.36 ERA … Posted four strikeouts in 3.2 innings … Struck out one in 0.2 innings in his collegiate debut at #12 Clemson.

Prep: Was a two-time all-state, all-section and all-league pick for coach Marco DiRuocco’s Harrison program … Rated as the 14th-best left-handed pitcher in the state of New York by Perfect Game … Selected to the News Journal/LoHud All-Star first team … Recipient of the Diamond 9 Scholar Athlete Award … Notched a 1.34 ERA and struck out 60 while also leading the team with a .486 batting average as a senior … Struck out 49 hitters and posted a 1.25 ERA as a junior … Helped the team advanced to the second round of the 2015 section playoffs … Four-year starter has served as a team captain twice … Participated in the 2015 Perfect Game WWBA National Tournament with Team Citius (Dallas, Texas), placing third out of the 336 teams participating.
