HAMPSTEAD, NC-- The Elon College men's golf team fired a first round 303 at the UNC Wilmington/Belevedere Invitational, Monday at the Belvedere Plantation Golf Club. The Fightin' Christians posted their highest round of the young season and find themselves in 12th place, 27 strokes behind first round leader Coastal Carolina who posted an eight-under 276 on the 6,401 yard, Par 71 course.

The Chants' Brad Hastings carded a four-under-par 67 to lead Coastal to a 13-stroke advantage over second place Campbell (289).

The Fightin' Christians are paced by Matt Donovan and Jeff Ennis who each shot 75, which is tied for 34th. Todd Grassi carded a 76 and John Marshall and Terry Slater each posted rounds of 77 to wrap up the Elon scoring.

Play continues on Tuesday for the second and final round of the 2nd Annuual UNCW Invitational.
