PROVO, UT -- Despite 14 points by both Larry McSwain and Brendon Rowell, the Phoenix dropped their second straight game Tuesday. This time the Cougars of Brigham Young did the damage as they downed Elon 100-63 in Provo, UT.
McSwain and Rowell each grabbed a team-high four rebounds and Dennis Gaskins shot 3-of-6 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line for eight points. The Phoenix shot only 36.7 percent from the field for the game.
BYU shot nearly 71 percent from the field en route to victory. Four players scored in double figures for the Cougars (1-0) including Mekeli Wesley, who poured in 19 points and pulled down three rebounds.
Elon (0-2) will look to pick up their first victory of the season Saturday when they take on San Diego at the University of Hawaii Tournament. Sunday the Phoenix will take on either Hawaii or Southeastern Louisiana.
