RICHMOND, VA -- Elon College's men's tennis team captured three singles matches and won the doubles point to notch a 4-2 victory over Richmond in non-conference action at UR Tennis Complex on Thursday.

Elon (10-6) posted victories at three of the top four singles positions with sophomore Chai Navawongse defeating junior Rob Flader in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, freshman Richard Dutton posted a 7-6, 7-5 win versus Spider sophomore Todd Parker.

In addition, Elon senior Adriano Blacutt notched a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Richmond junior Mark Scordo (Essex Falls, N.J.) at the No. 4 spot. The Spiders (4-15) registered singles wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions as senior Travis Wagner defeated Jacob Birk at five (6-1, 6-2), while freshman Dan Scrafford recorded a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at six over Peter Van Graafeiland.

Elon swept all three doubles matches. Navawongse and junior Renny Nagel teamed to post an 8-6 win at the No.1 spot over Spider senior Aljosa Piric and sophomore Matt Davis. At the No. 2 spot, Dutton and Blacutt combined to defeat Flader and Parker, 8-6. Elon freshmen Steve Helwig and Nick Belutty completed the whitewash, recording an 8-6 victory at the No. 6 position against Scordo and Scrafford.

Elon hosts the College of Charleston in both men's and women's tennis action on Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m.
