Phoenix Men Claim 6-1 Win Over UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The UNC Greensboro men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Southern Conference rival Elon Friday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Complex.

With the win, Elon evens its season record at 6-6 and moves to 3-4 in Southern Conference action. UNCG slips to 4-16 overall and 3-5 in league play.

Elon picked up the double's point by winning at No. 1 and No. 3. At No. 1, Pramote Malasitt and Eric Haase knocked off UNCG's Pieter Visser and Julio Moran, 8-3. Elon then clinched the point as Thomas Rohof and Alex Thomson picked up a tough 8-6 victory over Chris Magnone and Jason Steinhorn at No. 3. UNCG's Greg Levy and Marc Ladouceur recorded a 9-7 win over Justin Roberson and Austin Fenn at No. 2.

In singles action, the Phoenix's Pramote Malasitt picked up a three-set victory over Greg Levy at No. 1, 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. Eric Haase kept it rolling for the Phoenix as he posted a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Marc Ladouceur at No. 2. Thomas Rohof came from behind to beat Julio Moran at No. 3, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, then Justin Roberson claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Chris Magnone at No. 4. UNCG picked up its lone point of the match at No. 5 as Pieter Visser knocked off Austin Fenn, 6-0, 6-3. Mike Prelec of Elon finished the match with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 decision over Jason Steinhorn at No. 6.

The Spartans will return to action on Tuesday, April 13, at home against Davidson. The Phoenix will be back on the courts Saturday afternoon at home against The Citadel.
