ELON, N.C. – Elon University head men’s basketball coach Ernie Nestor today announced the signing of Chris Long (Charleston, W.Va./Hargrave Military Academy) to a National Letter of Intent. Long will join the Phoenix for the 2007-08 season.

A 6-2 point guard, Long was a four-year starter at George Washington High School where he finished his career as the all-time leading scorer.  A three-year First Team All-Mountain State Athletic Conference honoree, Long earned First Team All-State honors in 2006.  He averaged 20 points, six assists and five rebounds a game as a senior on Rick Greene’s squad.  He guided his team to the Mountain State Athletic Conference Championship in 2005 and 2006 and helped his team finished as the state runner up in 2006.

Long spent the last season playing for Kevin Keatts at Hargrave Military Academy.  He led the team in assists and averaged nine points an outing.  Hargrave, ranked fourth nationally during the 2006-07 season, boasts 11 Division I signees.

Chris is the son of Scott and Sara Long.
