Men’s Basketball to Open Home Slate on Monday Night

ELON, N.C.
– After opening the 2010-11 season at South Carolina on Friday evening, the Elon men’s basketball team will be on display in Alumni Gym on Monday, November 15 when the Phoenix hosts the Lions of The College of New Jersey at 7 p.m. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Series: First meeting

Free Throws:
• Elon is 9-2 in home openers during its Division I era.
• The Phoenix will be playing its first regular-season game in the newly renovated Alumni Gym. Elon won two exhibition contests in its new home.
• After playing only three home contests before the new year in the 2009-10 campaign, Elon will host three of its first four games this season.

Last Time Out:
• Elon opened the 2010-11 basketball season with a 94-79 loss at the hands of SEC foe South Carolina on Saturday night.
• The Phoenix dug a big hole in the first half, getting down 43-26 after an 8-of-29 shooting performance in the first 20 minutes.
• Elon came on in the second half, outscoring the Gamecocks, 53-51, behind rookie Jack Isenbarger’s 17 second-half points.
• Isenbarger scored 22 points on 7-of-11 FG in his debut in the maroon and gold.
• Elon also got 11 points from Roger Dugas who sat out the majority of last season with an injury.
• After managing only 4-of-11 from the free throw stripe in the first half, Elon nailed an impressive 16-of-17 freebies in the final period.
• The Phoenix nailed 13-of-31 three-pointers in the contest; Elon made only eight first-half buckets and six of them were from long range.
