White Out Alumni Gym for Elon vs. Wofford

ELON, N.C.
– The newly renovated Alumni Gym will be packed full of Phoenix fans dressed in white as the Elon men’s basketball team aims to take down the defending Southern Conference champion Wofford Terriers on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Elon fans will receive a free T-shirt at the door for the first league contest of the year inside the friendly confines of Alumni Gym. The Phoenix (2-4, 0-1) is coming off an 80-65 loss at Furman while Wofford (3-5, 1-0) earned a 90-72 victory over UNC Greensboro on Thursday night.

FREE THROWS
Chris Long moved into third place all-time at Elon with 362 assists after dishing off three helpers at Furman.
Drew Spradlin needs just two three-pointers to tie for 10th all-time at Elon with 97 triples.
• Elon’s four scholarship freshmen are all averaging double-figure minutes.
• Elon is averaging 15.2 assists per game — third in the Southern Conference. The Phoenix has 91 assists on 158 buckets.
• The Phoenix ranks first in the SoCon with 9.5 three-pointers per game.
• Rookie Jack Isenbarger has been the most productive SoCon freshman so far this season, averaging 15.2 ppg. He is 10th in the league overall and is tops among freshmen.
• Elon coach Matt Matheny is in his second season as a head coach after being hired as the 17th head coach in Elon history in March 2009.

LAST TIME OUT
• Elon dropped to 3-5 all-time in league openers after falling to Furman 80-65 on Wednesday night. The loss was only the second ever at Timmons Arena for the Phoenix.
• Furman was strong underneath the basket, holding a 34-18 advantage in points in the paint and leading Elon 40-27 on the glass.
Drew Spradlin, who has been slow to start this season, shot 7-of-10 from the field for 22 points in 27 minutes of action. He was a perfect 3-of-3 from downtown and 5-of-5 from the foul line.
• Elon was shooting under 60 percent from 15 feet coming into the game but managed a 16-of-22 (72.7 percent) performance from the charity stripe.

THE TERRIERS
• Wofford, the defending Southern Conference champions, opened league play with a 92-70 win over UNC Greensboro on Thursday night.
• Noah Dahlman, the reigning SoCon Player of the Year as selected by the league’s coaches, is leading the team with 17.6 ppg and is shooting 54.3 percent from the field.
• While the Terriers have five losses, two came in overtime, including a triple OT 94-90 loss at Xavier. Wofford has played three extra minute contests this year.
