ELON, N.C. – The Elon men’s basketball team will look to get back on the winning track as it hosts the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs on Tuesday night in Alumni Gym. The non-conference contest is a return game from the 2009-10 ESPNU Bracketbusters event. The Phoenix (2-5) defeated the Bulldogs (6-4) 84-79 last year in Boiling Springs, N.C.

LAST TIME OUT
• Elon nearly knocked off the defending SoCon champion Wofford Terriers on Saturday night, falling 75-69 to the veteran-laden Terrier squad.

Chris Long netted 21 points, draining 9-of-10 free throws. He is shooting 84 percent from the foul line. Long also dished off six assists.

Drew Spradlin scored 18 points in the contest — he is averaging 20 ppg in last two contests.
• Elon shot a season-best 80 percent (20-of-28) from the charity stripe. The Phoenix is only shooting 64 percent on the year.
• The Phoenix continues to struggle on the glass — Wofford held a 36-27 rebounding advantage.
THE BULLDOGS
• Gardner-Webb is off to a strong start this season with a 6-4 record. Two of the team’s losses were by a combined three points. All four of the Bulldogs losses have come on the road.
• The Bulldogs defeated Charlotte to open the season and have already knocked off one SoCon opponent this year. Gardner-Webb defeated Western Carolina, 71-65.
• GWU has taken 200 three-pointers this year but only made 60 (30 percent).
