Round 2
POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- Stuart Kaufman followed up his three-under round of 69 on Monday with an even-par 72 on Tuesday to remain near the top of the individual leaderboard while the Elon Phoenix men's golf team holds the sixth spot at the Old Dominion/Outerbanks Collegiate with a round to play.
The Phoenix will enter Tuesday's final round with a mark of 589 (299-290) and is three strokes back of both Richmond (295-291) and VCU (298-288).
Kaufman is tied for fourth individually with his 141. He sits two strokes behind VCU's Jake McNulty for third. Individual co-leaders Weston Eklud of Radford and Scott Wolfes of Georgia Southern both have marks of 137 through two rounds of play.
Jack Adkins soared from a tie for 23rd into a tie for 11th thanks to a one-under round of 71 on Monday. Adkins is at a one-over 145 (74-71) entering Tuesday's third round.
A third Elon player,
John Somers, sits in the top 30 of the 94-player field. Somers is tied for 29th with a mark of 150 (76-74) through two rounds of play.
Will DiIanni knocked 10 strokes off his first-round score of 83 and is now tied for 58th with a 156 (83-73). He is followed by
Matthew Brady whose 164 (80-84) has him tied for 83rd.
The 18-team field is led by Georgia Southern through two rounds. The Eagles sit at 577 (290-287), one-over par. Second place is held by Radford (299-283--582) while host Old Dominion (295-288--583) is third.
The final round will be contested at the Kilmaric Golf Club on Tuesday.
