HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Three Elon golfers sit among the top 15 after the first round of play at the Low Country Intercollegiate women's tournament. Led by
Kristi Ingram, the Phoenix sits sixth with a mark of 318 following one round.
Ingram shot a 77 over her first 18 holes to sit in a tie for seventh out of the 75 golfers in the tournament. She is just three strokes back of the lead shared by Newberry's Mariz Luz Besio, Princeton's Wonji Choi and Wofford's Alex Hendricks.
Two Phoenix golfers are tied for 14th with a score of 79 -
Virginia Mayer and
Lauren Lebak.
Diana Davis shot an 83 during her first round and is tied for 45th while
Martyna Mierzwa's 85 has her tied for 55th with one round to play.
Appalachian State sits atop the 15-team field after firing a 313 on Sunday. The Mountaineers hold a one-stroke lead on Jacksonville and a three-stroke advantage over the trio of Radford, Newberry and Presbyterian.
Other SoCon teams in the field include host Wofford (9th; 325) and The Citadel (14th; 340).
