Kaufman Leads Elon on Day One of Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate

With two rounds of play in the books following the first day of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, Elon's Stuart Kaufman finds himself in a tie for seventh individually, while the Phoenix is tied for ninth as a team with one round to play.

Elon posted a 591 (295-296) over its two rounds on Monday to tie Penn for ninth.

South Carolina, ranked 36th nationally, leads the 18-team field with a mark of 570 (287-283) and leads #65 North Carolina State by one stroke.  In a tie for third with a 574 are both #59 Augusta State and #58 Virginia, while 23rd-ranked Clemson and #28 Liberty share fifth with a tally of 577.

Other top-100 teams in the field include #87 Georgia State (8th, 584) and #100 Maryland (T14th, 599).

Kaufman (69-72) is one of three players who posted a one-over 141 over their first 36 holes of the tournament.  He had one eagle over his two rounds.

Trailing Kaufman by six strokes is John Somers.  Somers posted rounds of 75 and 72 on his way to a 147.  He had one eagle and led the field on the par-five holes, shooting five-under on the par-fives.

In a tie for 49th in the 90-player field is Jack Adkins.  Adkins posted a two-round score of 150 (73-77) on Monday.  He is followed by Will DiIanni and Jeff Krieger.  DiIanni will enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 76th with a mark of 156 (81-75), while Kreiger shot a 160 (78-82) to tie for 85th.

Leading the individual field is Virginia's Mac McLaughlin.  McLaughlin carded a 135 (71-64) during his two rounds.
