Phoenix Holds Steady at SoCon Championship


Round Two

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. --
A solid 295 during its second round of play at the 2013 Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship has kept the Elon Phoenix in fifth place with one round to be contested.

Over its first two rounds of play, Elon has posted a mark of 607 (312-295).

Jack Adkins is leading the maroon and gold and will enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 10th among the 55 golfers in the 11-team field.  Adkins fired a 73 on Monday after posting a 77 on Sunday and has a 150 for the tournament.  He is two-under on the par five holes and has recorded five birdies over his 36 holes.

In a tie for 15th is Jeff Krieger who has a 151 (77-74).  Krieger had two birdies and 12 pars during Monday's round.  Overall, Krieger has posted 23 pars.

John Somers rallied in the second round and is now tied for 25th with a 154 (81-73).  Somers is four-under on the par five holes and has seven birdies during his two rounds.  During Monday's second round, Somers had four birdies.

Elon's final two competitors are Stuart Kaufman and Will DiIanni.  Kaufman's 156 (81-75) has him tied for 34th, while DiIanni's 161 (77-84) places him in a tie for 45th.  Both have a total of five birdies over their two rounds.

Chattanooga's Steven Fox has moved atop the field with a two-round score of 143 (72-71).

The 48th-ranked Mocs have also claimed the the top spot in the team standings with a score of 588 (298-290).  UTC leads Davidson by three strokes with a round to play.
