CARY, N.C. – Elon University men's tennis senior Cameron Silverman won his flight at the Duke Fab Four on Sunday, Sept. 15, following a win over Duke's 22nd-ranked Michael Redlicki in the finals at the Cary Tennis Park.
Silverman, ranked 34th nationally by the ITA, won in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (4), versus Redlicki to earn the singles title in the White Flight. Previously, Silverman defeated Robbie Mudge from NC State (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) in the semifinals, Duke's DJ McCall in the second round (6-1, 4-6, 6-1) and William & Mary's Damon Niquet (6-2, 6-1) in the first round.
Brian Kowalski finished 2-2 at the Duke Fab Four. Kowalski posted a 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-3, decision versus W&M's Scott Huang and a 6-3, 7-6 (6) win over Wake Forest's Nicholas Osterline.
Kowalski and Jordan Kaufman had a good doubles performance at the Duke Fab Four as well, posting an 8-5 win over W&M's team of Niquet and Huang, as well as an 8-5 decision over North Carolina's Depaolo and Shattuck.
Silverman and Stefan Fortmann head to Charlottesville, Va., next weekend to compete in the UVA Ranked Plus One Tournament. The tournament features only nationally ranked players from across the nation.
