Round Two
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With three players carding rounds of even par or better, the Elon men's golf team climbed from 13th place into a tie for seventh following the second round of play at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate on Saturday. Through two rounds, the Phoenix has shot a two-under 574 (293-281).
Jonathan DiIanni has been Elon's top performer over the first two days of action. He will begin Sunday's final round of play in a tie for 16th at two-under par (142) following rounds of 73 and 69. On Saturday, he went three-under, including an eagle on the par-five 17th hole.
Just one stroke back in a tie for 24th is
Troy Beaver. Beaver (74-69) went three-under on Saturday with four birdies.
Charlie May notched five birdies in round two to also shoot three-under. May is at even par overall following rounds of 75 and 69 and is tied for 32nd.
Will DiIanni stands in a tie for 66th with a mark of 149 (75-74), while
Jeff Krieger's 152 (71-81) has him tied for 75th out of 100 players.
Host North Carolina continues to pace the field with a -27 550 (273-277). East Carolina (569) sits second followed by Kennesaw State (570) and GRU Augusta (572). Both Furman and Maryland are at 573 and are tied for fifth.
