Round One
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Three members of the Elon women's golf program sit in the top eight as the Phoenix shot a 300 to pace the 13-team field following the first round of the William & Mary Invitational.
After carding a one-over par 73, rookie
Heather Munro is tied for second out of 70 players. Munro notched either a birdie (four) or par (10) on 14 of her 18 holes on day one.
Both
Emily Brooks and
Kelsey Badmaev went to the clubhouse after shooting a 75 during Sunday's opening round. The pair is tied for eighth. Brooks had 13 pars, while Badmaev recorded the round's lone eagle along with two birdies.
Sunna Vidisdottir's 77 placed her in a tie for 16th as she had 13 pars on day one.
With a round of 79,
Taylor Wilkerson ended the day in a tie for 32nd. She posted two birdies.
Playing as an individual,
Heather Dockrill made her Elon debut. Dockrill shot an opening round 87 and is tied for 63rd.
The individual lead is held by Radford's Alexandra Austin. Austin's round of 72 has her one stroke ahead of Munro, William & Mary's Mia Zanghetti and UNC Wilmington's Annette Lyche.
Elon's lead after day one is seven strokes over both Appalachian State and Morehead State.
