FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Elon University women's golf team leads a 14-team field after round one of the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Eagle Invitational at Stoneybrook Golf Club in Fort Myers, Fla., with a total score of 290 (+2). The Phoenix is 17 shots clear of both Xavier and host FGCU (307), who are tied for second place.
 
Elon posted three of the top five rounds of the day. Sunna Vidisdottir leads all players after shooting a one-under par 71. Vidisdottir made the turn with birdies on the ninth, 10^th and 11^th holes, three of her five birdies on the day.
 
In second place after 18 holes is Heather Munro, who carded an even-par 72.
 
Emily Brooks is in a tie for second place after posting an even-par round of 74. Brooks' two birdies on the day came at the first and 13^th holes.
 
Also in the top 10 after the first round is Kelsey Badmaev, who shot a three-over par 75. Badmaev, a member of the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team last season, finished with pars on 12 of her 18 holes.
 
In a tie for 41^st place after a nine-over par 81 is Hilda Kristjandottir. Taylor Wilkerson posted a 12-over par 84 and sits in a tie for 60^th.
 
Two rounds of competition remain Feb. 14 and 15 at Stoneybrook Golf Club in Fort Myers, Fla.
