Elon Improves Position at Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – A second-round 297 helped the Elon women's golf team gain three spots in the team standings at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic on Monday. The Phoenix now sits fifth out of the 40 teams in the field with a two-day mark of 603 (306-297).

Sunna Vidisdottir continued to pace the maroon and gold as she ended the second round tied for 11th out of 210 players. Vidisdottir has posted rounds of 71 and 76 for a 147 after 36 holes. Through the first two days she has six birdies.

A trio of Elon golfers is tied for 27th with a 152 – Kelsey Badmaev (75-77), Emily Brooks (79-73) and Heather Munro (81-71). Munro has birdied seven holes and Badmaev has notched six birdies.

Rounding out the Phoenix contingent is Kristi Ingram. Ingram's 170 (81-89) has her tied for 169th.

College of Charleston's Laura Fuenfstueck is pacing the field after two rounds. She has a two-day mark of a three-under 141 (70-71).

CofC, ranked 71st nationally by Golfweek, moved into first place in the team standings. The Cougars sit at 588 (300-288) and lead second-place, and 94th-ranked, Troy (298-300–598) by 10 strokes. Also ahead of 86th-rated Elon in the top five are North Florida (297-304–601) and Stetson (304-298–602).

The third and final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday.
